Cary Henrie's approach to his dream -like landscapes run from total abstraction to soft edged realism. They are accented with transparent bars of color, and often times with patterns reminiscent of ancient Asian Scrolls. Cary Henrie uses gentle earth tones of yellows, oranges, blues and browns, building upon his canvas with generous layers of gesso , acrylics, oils and varnishes.

“I want the texture and the feel of my work to be almost the primary thing you see. I like the landscape emerging, rising out of the abstract. …something that reminds you vaguely of someplace you’ve seen before.
