A New Mexico Native, Karyn Gabaldon always had an affinity with nature and Japanese art.  The simplicity...yet complexity of interpreting nature and its magical moments was what Gabaldon sought to explore and express in her work.

Living in Durango, Colorado, since 1973, Gabaldon was a Fort Lewis College alumni.  After being a professional potter for 20 years, she began painting in 1991.  "Clay taught me how to feel; Painting taught me how to see."

Gabaldon owned and operated her own gallery since 1980.  She blended her life with the continual development of art, business, and community.

Karyn Gabaldon’s Art Gallery, downtown Durango was officially closed December 31st, 2024 after 45 years.
She had an epic run in the arts! A huge thank you to all the collectors who supported her and the gallery over the years.

Please know that there is a limited quantity of Karyn’s original paintings from her personal collection in acrylic, oil, and watercolors, available for purchase from her estate. There are also prints on metal and paper as well as some of her Asian Furniture collection. For inquiries, or to make an appointment, please contact Jeff:
